Life is so Good!!

Wow! It has been such a long time since I have posted (sorry!).  I must share three highlights of this week, that made life so great!
1. On Monday, when we had no school, we made banana pancakes and ate them around 1 in the afternoon, while listening to "Banana Pancakes" by Jack Johnson. - Everyone should do that once in their lifetime.
2. I found the best recipe to make easy cinnamon rolls. It was so easy and they taste so good! My roommate and I made them twice in one day.  The recipe can be found at this link : http://iowagirleats.com/2011/11/23/8-minute-mini-cinnamon-rolls/?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+IowaGirlEats+%28Iowa+Girl+Eats%29

3. This weekend we made a fort in our living room!!! It is so cool, it looks like a giant tent, and yes, we did sleep in it last night!
Over all, life is great! Best of luck to all of you and remember to live life to the 9's!

Halloween !!!

This year, Halloween was so much fun. My roommates and I dressed up as the characters from CLUE. I was Mrs. Peacock. We had a Murders Mystery Dinner a few weeks ago with some friends. It was so much fun. I highly recommend having one! I also made the famous Peanut Butter finger cookies - so much fun!

Halloween Novels

The last two weeks for my children's literature class we read two "Halloween" novels. The first, "Witch of Blackbird Pond."by Elizabeth George Speare and the second, "Westing Game"by Ellen Haskin.  Both excellent novels. Witch of Blackbird Pond takes place during the witch trials in the early colonial time period. The Westing Game is a murder mystery, with excellent twists. Both are great novels.

I just discovered Pinterest, it is so cool. You create boards that you are interested in and then pin photos you find on them. It is so cool.

MoDgE pOdGe

Over the summer I discovered modge podge. I did a few crafts with it. I hope to do more of the quote frames. Here are some pictures, (the quote frame, and 1500 piece puzzle). The puzzle is a picture that reminds me of my dear sweet Great Grandma Beth, who passed away almost a year ago. She introduced me to Shakespeare, and this painting hung in her kitchen. At the cabin, my aunts and cousins helped me put it together.

Reading Overload!

Wow, it has been quite awhile since I last posted. Here is the last few novels I have read, quick review on them!
"The Invention of Hugo Cabret", by Brian Selznick(top) - oh my goodness!!! Incredible!! It was such a great book a picture book taken to extreme. The majority of the story was told through pictures and wow, so good. The movie will be coming out in November.
"Number the Stars", by Lois Lowry (second) - what a sweet and moving story. A young girl living in Denmark during the Nazi invasion. A true story of courage and helping her friend live through the hard times. Very moving!
The third book I have read in the last few weeks was "Lincoln, A photobiography" it was a great biography telling of Lincoln's life, their were things I did not know of Abraham Lincoln. A very good biography!
I am currently on another book at the time, and a review will be coming shortly !

New Goal

Wow, it has been awhile since I have posted. I thought I would share my progress in my new goal. Since the beginning of the semester my roommates and I have tried to go to the gym at least 3 times a week.  We do cardio and abs every time, but on Tues we focus on arms, Wed on legs, and Thurs back and shoulders. I am already feeling a difference, and realize that I love working out! We have a group that goes with us, and it is so much fun. So far this week, I biked 5 miles on Tues, and 4 miles on Wed. (this is my averages every week).  More book reviews to come !

Book 2: Princess Academy

I completed another novel, I was up till 1:00am last night, cause I wanted to finish it. Princess Academy by Shannon Hale, was quite a good book. It was quite slow in the beginning, but by the end it was pretty exciting, and I yearned to see what happened. After completing this book I wrote a summary, and literary guide to be used in a classroom, I will post it later.
